Daniel Buren

Born in France in 1938/ resides in France
Buren is an internationally renowned artist and one of the leading conceptual artists today.  Since 1965, he has been using his trade mark 8.7 cm stripes in his artwork. In 1968 he gain prominence for his installation work of stripes that were showcased in subway stations around Paris. In 2002, a large-scale solo exhibition was held in Pompidou Centre (France). His large scale collaborative work that transformed Frank Gehry’s construction into a colourful scallop at La Foundation Louis Vuitton in 2016 has received worldwide attention. Despite his prominence he continues to exhibit work worldwide.  He was awarded the Praemium Imperiale in Painting in 2007.
