Oron Catts (1967) born in Finland, Co-founder and Director of SymbioticA, The Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, at the University of Western Australia, Professor of Contestable Design at the Royal College for the Arts, London & Ionat Zurr (1970) born in the UK, have collaborated from the mid 90s as the Tissue, Culture and Art (TC&A) Project, and considered pioneers in the field of biological art. Their practice explores the use tissue technologies as a medium for artistic expression. They create Semi-Living evocative objects that question deep-rooted perceptions of life, identity and relations between humans, nonhumans and the environment. Mike Bianco (1981) born in the USA, is an artist, curator, researcher, and beekeeper whose practice is focused on issues of politics, gastronomy, food systems, and environmental sustainability. All live and work at SymbioticA in Australia.
