Noah's Bus 2016

Noah’s Bus

Outside the plaza located on the route from the Hitachi Station to the Hitachi Civic Center, Mäkipää installed a bus where rabbits, Russian turtle, guinea pig, and laced Polish chicken inhabit. Makipaa also recreate local plants of Hitachi city in the installation. Creating a space of animals and plants in the urban environment, the artist leads us to consider our symbiotic relationship with nature. Her work, entitled Noah’s Bus is modeled after the ark’s escape from the water rise to the mountain. *This project was realized with the generous supports by Hitachi Kamine Zoo and Ibaraki Landscape Constructors Association. The animals are in the daily care of Kamine Zoo.
