For KENPOKU ART 2016, Tiffany Chung researched the history and society of Hitachi city through archives. Based on the research, she selected significant texts and other materials from the collection of the Hitachi City Museum, and will exhibit them next to her cartographic drawings and text works. With this juxtaposition, Chung makes us conscious of social shifts in the city. The artist will also exhibit a video work that depicts images of societies after Vietnam War and those of other cities in Japan. The whole composition of those various images reflects not only the experience of Hitachi residents and other Japanese, but also that of large populations all around the world. According to the artist, there are always stories forgotten and hidden from the official history.
