Mirage in the forest

Akane Moriyama, who studied architecture and textile, betrays our pre-determined conception with her textile architecture. For KENPOKU ART 2016, her work fills the space of the serine forest in Oiwa Shrine, a historical place of worship. The work made out of about 6000 thin films swing in the wind blowing from the top of the Oiwa Mountain. Their organic movement resembles the way living beings inhale and exhale. Moriyama’s work captures the time and space of this location, embodying the atmosphere, the people, the plants, and the prayers that are invisible to the eyes.
