Soul Shelter

Sudsiri Pui-ock’s Soul Shelter is a sculptural piece of a giant Hermit Crab, from which human fingers are extending. Despite its eerie appearance at first glance, the sculpture represents our endeavor and vitality to live in a temporary space / shelter, and moreover symbolizes the journey of the soul into a “new body.” With this work, Pui-ock, who has questioned the compatibility of human with the environment, reflects upon the life of all beings that cohabit with nature. At the Takado Kohama coast, selected among the most beautiful 100 beaches in Japan, the artist’s idea of life resonates more beautifully and strongly.
