Field Crystals 2016
Interested in five-million-year old stratum and minerals from Kenpoku region, Ian Carlo Jaucian started creating his work. The crystal emits light only when being placed on the ground. When one holds it up, the light disappears. It is a mechanism where the LED light, connected to the copper coil, reacts to a vibrating magnetic field. The crystal is made of sodium borate, which is commonly used for cleanser, detergent and insecticide. Except LED light, this crystal is easily recyclable. Jaucian’s work displays the possibility of new designs that incorporate new technology, and eco-friendly and sustainable materials.
